Despite writing from a Roman prison (around 62AD), the Apostle Paul insists that joy is the dominant Christian experience. The words "joy" and "rejoice" are used 16 times in the letter. He wrote the letter to express his affection for the Philippian church, his strongest supporters in ministry, encouraging them to live as citizens of a heavenly city, growing in their commitment to serve God and one another. Jesus is the supreme example of this way of life.
Pieter Pienaar began preaching this series on Philippians in October 2014.
