'Elders lead ministry, deacons facilitate ministry, the congregation does ministry.'
Our worship services consist of congregational singing with times of prayer followed by a Bible-based sermon. We celebrate the Lord's supper on the 3rd Sunday of every month, periodically baptizing new believers. The entire gathering usually lasts no more than an hour and a half. When visiting, don’t feel obliged to give money when we take our offering. Participate as you feel comfortable. We look forward to meeting you!
We gather every Saturday morning for combined prayer, giving thanks and presenting requests on behalf of each other and our country. Additionally our men meet at dawn on Fridays. Should you need prayer or would just like someone to pray with you, contact us or visit a service.
Our Bible study is led by an elder every Wednesday morning and evening (9:30am & 7pm). While subjects vary the goal remains the same: To to teach you to correctly interpret the Bible for yourself. All welcome. For more on our theology see what we believe
Jesus said his disciples would be recognized by their love for each other (John 13:35). Christians should then be most attentive to the well being of others, striving to serve fellow believers and the community at large (Galatians 6:10). As responsible care requires both love and wisdom, Strand Baptist has an active care committee which meets regularly to coordinate service to members and non-members alike. Contact us for more information regarding care or to become involved.
Missions & Outreach
For many years Strand Baptist had been involved in reaching the Quetcha people of Peru, South America, via missionaries sent from our own congregation. Nearer home, we currently co-support a church plant in Gordons Bay: Hope Reformed Baptist Church. It is our conviction that while mission organizations are invaluable, missions and missionaries flourish most when the relationship of the local church is strongly maintained. This we believe is the New Testament model. Thus it is our aim not only to send but to provide sustainable long term support.
Our ladies meet monthly for fellowship, study and prayer. Additionally we have a Ladies Book Club for encouraging friendship, mentorship, and outreach. Book club meetings are held monthly at private homes and all women are welcome to attend. For more information contact Vasti.
Our Sunday School ministry runs concurrently with our Sunday worship service. Young ones briefly participate in worship with their parents before joining teachers in our adjacent hall. In these short but precious moments we aim to introduce children to the God of the Bible. Our teachers work from age-specific material approved by our elders. For new parents, we also offer cry room facilities. Furthermore, as our children's safety is of utmost importance, we take steps to ensure a secure teaching and playing environment. If you're interested in serving or learning more about this vital ministry please contact our office.
Our Fellowship Ministry exists to serve the whole body at Strand Baptist. From arranging church camps, social events, meals and games for the congregation to enjoy. The fellowship ministry also facilitates men's breakfasts for Gospel encouragement and outreach. Through these and other activities we aim to gather for meaningful times of service, relationship building and prayer. The fellowship ministry provides many opportunities for those looking to serve Christ through serving his people.
