WHAT TO EXPECT
Our worship services are very simple: congregational singing of hymns and choruses with times of prayer followed by a Bible-based sermon. We celebrate the Lord's supper on the 3rd Sunday of every month and periodically baptize new believers. The entire gathering usually lasts no more than an hour and a half. When visiting Strand Baptist, don’t feel obliged to give money when we take our offering. Participate as you feel comfortable. We look forward to meeting you!
GROWING CHILDREN IN THE GOSPEL
Our Sunday School ministry runs concurrently with our Sunday worship service. Young ones briefly participate in worship with their parents before joining teachers in our adjacent hall. In these short but precious moments we aim to introduce children to the God of the Bible. Our teachers work from age-specific material approved by our elders. For new parents, we also offer cry room facilities.
We gather every Saturday morning for combined prayer, giving thanks and presenting requests on behalf of each other and our country. Additionally our men meet at dawn on Fridays. Should you need prayer or would just like someone to pray with you, contact us or visit a service.
EXAMINING THE SCRIPTURES
The Bible is God's Word to us, literally "God-breathed" and profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and training in righteousness (2 Timothy 3:16). It naturally follows that studying the scriptures is essential in growing to Christian maturity. Our Bible study is led by Pastor Pieter Pienaar every Wednesday morning and evening (9:30am & 7pm). While subjects vary the goal remains the same: To to teach you to correctly interpret the Bible for yourself. All welcome. (For more on our theology read our Statement of Faith)
SHARING THE GOSPEL TREASURE
For many years Strand Baptist has been involved in reaching the Quetcha people of Peru, South America. We currently co-support a family of our own congregation who became permanent missionaries to this area in 2011. Additionally, SBC also co-supports a Baptist pastor on the Cape Flats.
LOVING ONE ANOTHER
On the first Saturday of each month, the ladies of Strand Baptist serve an excellent lunch for members and visitors in order to raise funds for our feeding project. All the proceeds plus donations are utilized to assist families in distress at one of the local primary schools as well as the needs within our congregation. We would welcome all to join us for a plate of home style cooking and fellowship.
